WE DID IT!!!! We made it to 100 Youtube subscribers in 2 weeks! And it didn’t even take until the last second! We also have a Perform or Die! coming up this Thursday (3/23) at Howard’s at 9pm. Come out and party with us!

In order to ramp up our Youtube presence in anticipation of beginning a regular upload schedule of sketches, jam sessions, performances, and updates, we’ve issued a Youtube Challenge! If we can get 100 subscribers by 3/20/17, we’ll perform Robert Pierzak’s absurdist piece “Endangered Banana #3: The Only Dimension is the Erection Dimension” for dancing/vocalizing banana and timpani. Click here to go to our channel and subscribe. More fun and details in the video below:

After Dark was a success! Due to technical difficulties on a scale akin to an act of God, we started with three cameras and a Zoom H4n and somehow ended up only getting footage of the show from one extreme side angle with poor audio. So, while we re-record those pieces and bask in the additional success of our recent ArtsX and Praecepta performances, we invite you to check out the sketch videos from After Dark.

We also have another installment of Perform or Die! coming up this Thursday night at Howard’s at 9pm. We still have room for performers on the program, so if you have a solo or chamber piece you’d like to perform, message us ASAP! Or just come to have fun and drown your finals week sorrows. Either way, it’s going to be a good time.

It’s show week! Our first performance of After Dark is this Saturday at 9pm in Kelly Hall, at the Moore Musical Arts Center on BGSU’s campus! It’s got everything a good show should have: sex, drama, comedy, multiple world premieres, and t-shirts! We cannot wait to share it all with you. In the meantime, here’s a trailer of snippets and outtakes from the sketch portion of the show:

Our fall season is winding up! If you missed us last week, come check us out as we sit in with local “art punk” group, Indian Opinion, tonight at Ottawa Tavern in Toledo! Doors at 9pm. $5 cover. We’ve also got Perform or Die! dates lined up for October 14 and November 3–the latter being our first ever public PoD!, so check back for details in the coming weeks!

And of course, the big news–AFTER DARK is coming! Our second full-length music and sketch comedy show will be Saturday, November 19, at 9pm in Kelly Hall at the College of Musical Arts on BGSU’s campus. We cannot charge admission, but we are still selling t-shirts for $15, so if you want to show your support and help us cover our costs, send us an order over email! Or you know, just send us money. That’d also be good.

We did it! Showtotype was a success! Check out this playlist of our sketch videos:

We are pleased to announce that we will be performing our program Showtotype in Kelly Hall, at Bowling Green State University, on Friday, April 29, at 9:30pm! There will contemporary clarinet and percussion music, sketch comedy, costumes, and elaborately choreographed dance numbers! More info here!

We also have upcoming performances on February 20 and March 3 at the BGSU CMA! These performances are part of the Eric Mandat Clarinet Celebration and the New Music Ensemble (which can be lived streamed!) concerts, respectively.

The deadline to join the consortium has been extended to June 1! If you are a clarinetist or percussionist interested in helping commission three new works by three equally phenomenal composers, check out the details in the original post below.

Just Duet Consortium

We are working with three outstanding composers on a consortium project! We had the pleasure of meeting and working with William KenlonPhong Tran, and Michael Vince at fresh inc festival this summer, and we are thrilled to announce this new collaboration. In honor of Just Duet’s flagship program, After Dark—in the works for the fall of 2016—these three composers are each creating a piece of music for clarinet and percussion that fits the show’s theme in some way. We are looking to involve a total of 30 duos or interested individual performers in this project, with a buy-in of only $100.

I’ll give you a second to pick your jaw up off the floor.

You read correctly: that’s $100 for THREE totally new pieces of music by some incredibly talented composers, AND consortium members get exclusive performance rights through the end of 2016!

Learn more about joining the consortium here, and show your support for new art and emerging composers!
